Free Write Youth Poetry Workshop
Calling all young poets, writers, emcees and more! Join Discovery Green and Writers in the Schools for a virtual poetry workshop and open mic experience. Free Write offers young writers the chance to participate in a generative writing workshop, perform their original work, and meet other young writers looking to build their poetry and performance skills. Hosted and facilitated by Outspoken Bean, this opportunity is open to young writers ages 13-18 of all skills levels. Registration is required.

Emanuelee “Outspoken” Bean was ranked 9th in the Individual World Poetry Slam in 2012 and appeared at TEDxHouston in 2013. His one-man show “Converse” went to Theatre Row in New York City in November 2013, as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival. Bean coaches the WITS youth poetry program, Meta-Four Houston. He recently co-authored a peer-reviewed article on performance poetry in Children at Risk’s Journal of Applied Research on Children. Bean has taught with WITS since 2010.

All participants agree to be photographed/videoed/audio recorded. Photos/videos/audio may be used for publicity.
