Tardive Dyskinesia Awareness Presentation
May 2nd – 6th is Tardive Dyskinesia Awareness Week. Join NAMI Minnesota as we learn about Tardive Dyskinesia, a side effect of neuroleptics used to treat mental illnesses. Tardive Dyskinesia causes involuntary muscle movements outside of a person’s control that may include repetitive, jerking movements of the face, neck and tongue. One in four people who are treated with antipsychotics long term develop Tardive Dyskinesia.
