In this workshop, we will discuss how the struggles facing renters and people experiencing homelessness are interconnected in the fight for housing justice. Weak tenant protections pave the way to becoming unhoused, and many of the barriers that our unhoused neighbors face in finding permanent affordable housing are the same for renters who are facing housing insecurity. We will hear testimonials from advocates with lived experience, examine upcoming legislation, and brainstorm how to win stronger protections!
This is the sixth workshop in Be:Seattle's Building Tenant Power workshop series. Each workshop is designed to stand alone (so newcomers are welcome!); however, they are intended to build our skills, knowledge, and renter power over the course of the year, meaning we encourage you to come to the entire series! Each monthly workshop will be different.
