Join us for an event planned by students for students!
Plano ISD Council of PTAs Antiracism Committee invites Plano ISD 9-12th graders to spend an evening reflecting on identity and awareness while connecting with other students from across the district.
Thursday, April 29th from 7-9pm
The evening begins with a presentation from licensed professional counselor Mia Mbroh. Ms. Mbroh works with a number of organizations to facilitate and guide courageous conversations such as this. She will speak about the importance of intentional self-reflection, perception and awareness. Students will then break out into smaller zoom rooms to facilitate more meaningful conversations. At a minimum, each room will have a PTA adult, a student from the planning committee and around 10 others. We will then re-convene as the larger group to discuss takeaways.
During the planning process we imagined each participant thinking about their origin story, their present self and what the future holds. Your identity is what makes you, well YOU! You are shaped by your upbringing, cultural background, ethnicity, etc. This is a forum organized by the Plano ISD Council of PTAs to create an intentional space for students to discuss their personal experiences, identity and community.
