"Are you looking to implement purposeful coding in your classroom and connect to Ontario’s new Science and Technology Curriculum Expectations?
In this introductory session, Lisa Anne Floyd will introduce educators to the micro:bit and its built-in sensors. Participants will learn how to create simple, interactive applications within MakeCode to program the micro:bit. Cross-strand curriculum connections and teaching approaches for grades 4-6 will be explored. Educators will gain an awareness of the possibilities that such tools afford in the science and technology classroom and beyond.
Recommended Experience/Grade Level:
This session is geared towards educators of grades 4-6 who have little to no experience with the micro:bit, but will be useful for those who teach grades 7-8 as well.
A micro:bit is not required for this session, but is recommended if educators plan to implement the activities into their classrooms. Many schools have access to one or more sets of micro:bits.
