High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound
Using recently developed MRI techniques that can precisely target a small area in the brain, doctors are able to use High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) to provide targeted treatments for movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. In our first Science Café of 2021, we’ll learn how this leading-edge technology – the only one of its kind in Texas – has the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and is changing the landscape in treating the brain.
