Utilizing Tools to Support LGBTQ+ Youth in Un-affirming or Nontraditional Households with Equality Florida
The relationship between families, community, and our youth has a huge impact on the success of our students. For many of these youth, they are also disproportionately a part of our DJJ system, foster care system, and experience homelessness. This training aims to reduce bias-based decisions and to shed light on supporting youth in an equitable manner across diverse student bodies. Participants will leave this training with an understanding of the unique concerns impacting this group of students, as well as how families, school professionals, or community members can ensure every child has the support they need to graduate successfully.
These trainings are part of Women In Distress' Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month 2021 Parent & Youth Training Series! Open to all parents and youth (at least 11 years old) in the community, this series of presentations is designed to increase awareness of teen dating violence and healthy relationship behaviors and to spark proactive and responsible conversations between parents and their children so they can work together towards a safer future.
**Please note: All attendees must register. If you are a parent and want both you and your child(ren) to participate, you MUST register yourself and your child(ren) separately.
