Harry Ijams: Commercial Artist of Imagination and Wit
Harry Ijams (1876-1954) was a talented commercial artist, who during his career captured many aspects of Knoxville life. Although known for the nature center that bears his family name, he was also a regional naturalist, conservationist, and an advocate for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Ijams’ connections were remarkable. Through recently-discovered examples of his artwork plus vintage photographs and newspaper accounts, Paul James will present a fresh look at Harry Ijams’ life and work.
