In Eastertide Bishop Patrick echoes the call of Pope Francis and invites to be Missionary Disciples.
What does it mean to be a missionary disciple and why do we take this as our focus at this time in our liturgical year?
To explore these two questions we will be hosting two talks on Zoom in May.
Talk 1: Ascension & the Great Commission
Canon Christopher Thomas is a gifted preacher and theologian with a real talent for engaging and inspiring others. He is a priest of our diocese having been ordained in 2001 and has served as a university chaplain, Parish Priest and Episcopal Vicar for Finance & Administration as well as Catholic Education. Since 2014 Canon Christopher has been the General Secretary of the Bishop's Conference of England & Wales. Canon Christopher will give a talk exploring the importance of the Ascension and how we can live out Jesus' final teaching (the Great Commission). Join us on the feast of the Ascension (Thursday 13th May) for this talk
Talk 2: Pentecost & Mission
Pippa Baker - After 6 years of working in the advertising industry Pippa followed the Lord’s call to be a full time lay missionary working with the Church all over the UK. Her passion lies in helping the others follow Jesus daily and worshipping Him with their lives. She helps lead One Hope Project, a worship collective made up of Catholic creatives and is involved in the Leadership of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Pippa is a zealous evangelist and has spoken all across the country. On Wednesday 19th May she will help us prepare for Pentecost by speaking on the importance of the feast and how we can be equipped by the Holy Spirit to live out our call as a Missionary Disciple.
Both talks will start at 7pm and as well as the talk will include time for group discussion and questions & answers with the speaker.
