Yoga Nidra for Deep Relaxation
Yoga nidra means "yogic sleep." It is a specific, multi-step, guided process for the integration of body, mind and spirit, during which the different levels of consciousness are explored. These are the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious levels of our being. During the rotation of consciousness, all areas of the body are brought into awareness and, in the process, the sensory and motor nerves related to that body part are engaged in sensing and feeling, as opposed to thinking. For this reason, the rotation of consciousness is relatively rapid compared to other forms of guided relaxation. Just enough time is given to engage all of the communication channels without allowing time to digress into thoughts.

The position of the body is usually reclined, using blankets, pillows and other props for support. The head/neck should be in a neutral position and not propped up. The eyes should be closed and the body should remain still and quiet.

Preparation for yoga nidra:
• Wear cozy clothing
• Find a place in your house you can lay flat on your back, and still have your computer/ipad/phone close-by
• Have 1-3 blankets and 1-2 pillows on hand
• An eye mask and yoga mat (optional).

No medical release required. Loved ones welcome. Guided by Yoga Therapist, Patti Stone.
