Reflections from the Supreme Court: Julie Rikelman and Arguing June v. Russo
In the most recent term only twelve women argued before the Supreme Court. In the last twenty years less than one fifth of advocates before the Supreme Court have been women. This year’s pivotal abortion case, June Medical Services v. Russo exemplifies the long road ahead in both the fight for women’s bodily autonomy and the ability to reach the highest echelons of the legal profession. Join us for a conversation with Julie Rikelman, Senior Director of Litigation at the Center for Reproductive Rights, about her experience arguing June Medical Service v. Russo before the Supreme Court, the impact of this decision, and joining the ranks of women advocates who have argued before the Supreme Court. The conversation will be moderated by Shannon Rose Selden, Partner at Debevoise & Plimpton.
