Confident Confidentiality: A 3-Part Series (July 27, 2021 Part 3)
Confident Confidentiality: A 3-Part Series (July 27, 2021 Part 3)
WEBINAR DESCRIPTION: Confidentiality is foundational to sexual and domestic violence victim advocacy. Given the complexity of situations encountered within advocacy, it is important to have a strong grasp of the laws, principles, and policies that guide advocate confidentiality. Becoming more confident about confidentiality obligations can help empower advocates to have necessary and productive conversations with survivors and with allied professionals. It can also help advocates to manage situations where information must be released in a way that promotes survivor safety and autonomy. Join us for this three-part webinar series, where we will start with the Foundation and Fundamentals (Part 1), and then dig deeper into the three avenues by which personally identifying information may be released: Survivor-Driven Releases of Information (Part 2) and Statutory Mandates and Court Orders (Part 3).

AUDIENCE: KCSDV Member Program Advocates and Staff Only

Confident Confidentiality: Statutory Mandates and Court Orders (July 27, 2021)
As a result of this training, participants will be better able to:
1. Make general determinations about when requests for survivor information legally require a disclosure of information and when they do not.
2. Describe strategies for enhancing survivor safety and autonomy in the event of a legally required disclosure of information.
3. Describe best practices for mandated reporting, responding to subpoenas, and responding to arrest and search warrants.
