Most safety professionals must conduct training as part of the job, and many are not enjoying it because their methods need improvement. A panel of superheroes of safety training has been assembled to spill their secrets on becoming a better trainer by improving your delivery and material. The superhero panel includes a storytelling safety trainer, a safety training ninja, a gamification expert and a technology inclined trainer.
The panel will guide attendees in developing an action plan of their own to become safety training superheroes. Three core areas of focus will be discussed: the trainer and how they can make training programs truly awesome, the training material that will make or break if learning actually occurs, and the delivery of the training material. This is a can't miss session as the panel will spill their secrets on their most effective methods for ensuring student engagement and knowledge retention.
The session will begin with the panel sharing their best secrets related to the trainer, material, and delivery followed by a facilitated lightning round of questions from the audience.
The primary focus of this session is the trainer and attendees will begin to identify ways to improve their timing, tone, and delivery. The worst parts of safety training will be discussed, along with strategies for overcoming the pitfalls of convenience, difficult students, and how to complete a true needs assessment.
A secondary focus on the training material will provide attendees with new skills related to improving their methods of instructional design and student evaluation. Resources for improving exams, games, and exercises will be presented.
