Pay gaps are in the spotlight and apparently getting worse. Where data is available, it tells us that women continue to lag behind men in what they earn — and these gaps widen along the lines of race. This is due to a combination of different forms of discrimination which in turn reinforce the structural disadvantages faced by women and girls both in the labour force and within society at large. We aim to discuss policy solutions for advancing in gender equity and closing gender pay gaps, by sharing what Buenos Aires City and Catalonia’s governments have been doing through data openness, as well as showcasing OGP as a promising platform for action. We want to discuss initial findings from these experiences as well as hear from participants and the community how gender pay gaps are currently being addressed using principles and practices of openness.
