Using Art Therapy to Raise Self-Esteem
The American Art Therapy Association defines Art therapy as an integrative mental health and
human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities
through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience
within a psychotherapeutic relationship. We will be exploring our inner strengths in this
workshop with a focus on raising self-esteem.

Create yourself in the form of a Superhero.

Art Materials needed:
1) White paper 11x14
2) Markers
3) Colored pencil
4) Pencil and eraser
5) Any other art materials you may have such as glue, glitter, watercolor paint

We will spend the final portion of the workshop sharing the artwork with peers and talking about
our individual superpower.

Kim Traina-Nolan, MA, LAC, LCAT, ATR-BC, ATCS is an art psychotherapist with a private practice, The Art in
Therapy, LLC, in Boonton, NJ. She specializes in serving Millennial and Gen Z population. She is an adjunct
professor for the clinical mental health counseling degree program with specialization in art therapy at Caldwell University. She is a graduate of New York University and received a Master’s degree in Art Therapy. She also holds an MA in Mental Health Counseling from Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. She is currently an advanced candidate of Modern Psychoanalysis at ACAP in Livingston, NJ.
