A self portrait is an image of the artist created by the artist that reveals more than the external appearance. To “abstract” means to distill the subject down to its essence. Therefore an abstract self portrait is an image that expresses the inner most significant aspects of the subject. Use found photos of faces, objects and shapes to create the image. Use juxtapositions of size, type of facial features for visual impact (two different size eyes for example).
