June 17: What I did on my COVID vacation
Company: Debra Rich Gettleman
This past year, my family and I took a glorious Covid vacation. We spent the year in confinement; eating – everything, drinking – way more than recommended, and teetering between depression, anxiety and full-on insanity. Until…something shifted, and I heard my still small voice bellow, “Make Art. Art is freedom. Art will save your life. Oh, and by the way, make it funny.”
And that is what I did. Join Debra as she shares her vacation travelogue through 3 short “Zoovies” and a smattering of vlogs from her nearly anonymous YouTube channel, “Random Musings of a Neurotic Jewess.”
July 15th: The Two Souls of Cesar Chavez
Company: New Carpa Theatre Company
Cesar Chavez was one of the most influential civil rights activists in American history. In 1962, Chavez and Dolores Huerta co-founded what eventually became the United Farm Workers’ Union (UFW). "The Two Souls of Cesar Chavez" imagines the final night of Chavez's life as he takes stock of his role in the fight for civil rights. The celebrated farm labor organizer died in his sleep at the home of a family friend near his birthplace in southern Arizona on April 23, 1993. He was 66.
August 19: Larissa Brewington (Grey Matters Productions) presents "Day Care", a two person one act, about the relationship between a divorced couple negotiating a very rocky friendship while dealing with their own personal journeys into the golden/senior years of life.
