Title: Past disturbance history, tree longevity, and recent tree mortality in temperate primary forests of east and south-east Europe

Abstract: Primary forests provide important baseline information for our managed forests. Despite intensive use, primary forests still exist in east and south-east Europe. Their past disturbance history provides important reference information for current attempt on application of closer-to-nature forest management in the region. Recent tree mortality and tree longevity patterns in primary forests provide important feedback about ability of the natural forests to cope with ongoing climate change.
