Capacitating cities and local government stakeholders with the skills and knowledge to manage conflict is a proactive measure that will help them to prevent and mitigate conflicts that may arise in these increasingly densely populated urban environments. Furthermore, addressing and managing conflict at these urban levels not only mitigates the potential for violence in those immediate localities, but also can prevent local conflicts from escalating to larger and intractable conflicts.
It is against this context that ACCORD, in partnership with the REFELA of UCLG Africa invites you to the Conflict Management Training on 07th June 2021 in English with Arabic and Portuguese interpretation via Zoom. This training aims to strengthen the capacity of the REFELA network in conflict management as a means to assist their efforts to address governance and development issues that could potentially lead to an increase in urban conflict. The objectives for this training will be to:
• Strengthen conflict analysis skills; and
• Increase understanding of approaches to mediation and negotiation.
