Since the first published randomized control trial over 30 years ago that showed health benefits of writing about life’s traumatic events, over 200 additional studies have surfaced demonstrating the positive power of the pen on physical and emotional health. Narrative techniques are used increasingly in counseling, social work, and psychology to help individuals solve problems, reduce caregiver stress, cope with grief, and promote resilience in the current COVID-19 crisis. This experiential workshop will demonstrate writing techniques that can be added to the therapist’s toolbox and recommended as a self-help strategy.

**Practice brief expressive writing techniques and share excerpts of their writing with the group
