Science Café | Cancer Genetics: Precision Medicine and Cancer Prevention

Join Science Café on Thursday, March 23, from 7 to 8 p.m. CDT for dialogue about cancer prevention, treatment, and surveillance through the lens of cancer genetics and personalized precision medicine.

With the growth of scientific knowledge and development of new technologies, we are now able to understand the genetics of a person’s cancer as well as inherited predispositions to cancer. Genetic counseling helps patients and families determine if they are at an increased risk of cancer and provides options for prevention, early detection, and treatment. Presenters include Jason Park, M.D., Ph.D., UT Southwestern Professor of Pathology, and Clinical Director of the Advanced Diagnostics Laboratory at Children’s Health, and Kelsey Moriarty, M.S., Certified Genetic Counselor at Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center.
