Managing Distress and Crises: approaches to communicate, collaborate, and cope
Dr. Philip Grandia brings the perspective of a clinical psychologist who works with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental Illness. This event explores different approaches to managing loved ones’ mental health challenges, distress, aggression, and crises through communication, engagement, and coping. It’s an opportunity to discuss how to support an individual (family member or client) when things become challenging (e.g., crises, heightened stress/distress). Participants will learn about general approaches as well as tips and tricks related to supporting loved ones or clients in particularly challenging circumstances. This is a psychologist’s approach, which focuses on the things we say (or don’t say) and how we say it.
