Presenter: Avi Kriechman
Session Description: Myself and my colleagues have successfully implemented SBIRT (Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to
Treatment) in medical sites, IHS, pueblos, urgent care, emergency departments, trauma departments,
and school-based health centers to identify, assess, refer, and briefly treat youth at risk for substance abuse, depression, trauma, anxiety, and suicide. This workshop will focus on how the key elements of SBIRT - universal screening, motivational
interviewing, well-managed referrals, and brief/time effective treatment - can be used in a variety of settings to best support youth at risk of suicide. Key roles for peer and community support workers will be emphasized.
CONSENT TO RECORD: We will be recording the video and audio from this session. Registering and entering the virtual meeting space is considered implied consent. If you do not want to be recorded we request you view this presentation at a later date when the recording is posted.
