Join the ND Afterschool Network on Wednesday, May 19 from 10:00 - 11:00 am CT for an open forum to learn about the first quality standards for school-age, out-of-school time programs in North Dakota and have the opportunity to provide comments and feedback before the final draft is released in June 2021. A copy of the standards will be sent 1 week prior to the meeting.
The document will be open for public comment and feedback in May 2021. Input from a wide variety of out-of-school time programs, school principals and administrators, funders, and the early childhood field is important to us and any stakeholder is welcome to join!
Afterschool programs play a critical role in helping students succeed, keeping young people safe, and supporting families. They work hard to provide youth with a safe, nurturing environment where they learn, grow, try new things - and ultimately thrive.
The standards acknowledges that work and are designed to help take it to the next level. We dug into best practices from afterschool programs across the country and decades of research into what makes an effective afterschool program. We talked to a wide cross-section of program providers across ND and aligned the data on best practices with the specific needs of North Dakota's students. The result is four standards that are markers of an effective afterschool program.
