Most of us know someone who is living with dementia, if we’re not suffering its effects ourselves. Yet the topic is often shrouded in shame and secrecy due to dementia’s stigma and our own anxiety. This class, led by Barney Nelson and Shelly Edwards, will take a pragmatic “how to” approach to understanding dementia and caring for those who are affected by it, including the caregivers.
There will be an introductory forum on February 14 at 9:00 am - we recommend attending that session (register at http://trinity-episcopal.org/sunday-forums) or watching the archive on our YouTube channel (http://youtube.com/trinitycathpdx) prior to the first Wednesday session; however, watching this introductory forum is not required to attend the Wednesday sessions.
About the Instructors:
Barney Nelson lives with Lewy Body Dementia - similar to Alzheimer’s, it’s a progressive and incurable neurodegenerative brain disease. Shelly Edwards is a professional educator on the care of people with dementia.
