As the devastation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic across communities in the UK continues, a closer look at the plight of many small businesses and self-employed people is urgently needed. Many small businesses face an uncertain future and doubts remain for their long-term survival. Many self-employed people continue to find themselves in a precarious situation and without a clear path towards normalcy. While the support the government provided offered a lifeline for many, a longer-term strategy to support the small businesses and self-employed people is urgently needed. This discussion will scrutinise the government's handling of the support for small businesses and self-employed people and identify actions and support needed for restoring their livelihood.
