This interactive presentation is designed for K-12 teachers who want to transfer high-quality classroom assessment practices to an online teaching context. We will focus on the challenges and opportunities for classroom assessment in a remote learning environment—whether synchronous (live) or asynchronous (recorded). We will discuss what’s the same and what’s different conceptually and practically with respect to formative and classroom summative assessment when learning and instruction takes place remotely. Teachers will leave with practical strategies for embedding formative assessment processes online and thinking through the challenges associated with classroom summative assessments. The presentation will weave together applied examples of key principles for both younger and older students. There will be opportunities for questions and interaction throughout the presentation.
