White Supremacy Culture: What Is It? How Does it Work? What Can We Do About It?
Have you ever wondered why our work often gets bogged down in committee meetings? Or why it feels like there’s no room for mistakes? Why does “but we’ve always done it this way” seem to have so much power?

In this 90-minute webinar, we will start answering these questions and more by exploring what white supremacy culture is and how it gets in the way of our work. We’ll learn how white supremacy culture reproduces racism in both obvious and hidden ways, how we internalize its messages, and practical “antidotes” that we can practice both personally and collectively to create cultures that support racial and social justice. We will have a chance to understand the connections between cultural racism and institutional racism, and identify ways in which white supremacy culture shows up in our communities and organizations, including faith communities, nonprofits, and organizing groups. Finally, we will draw from personal experience and the experience of movement elders to strategize about how to live into values grounded by our commitment to a just world.
