Fetal Positioning 101
Did you know that there is so much more to fetal positioning than breech or head down?

Hi, I’m Cassie Schultz, certified doula through DONA International and founder of Great Lakes Doulas, LLC. If you are pregnant, there is something that I want you to know. Fetal position matters. In the four years that I have been attending births I have witnessed a large spectrum of experiences including both very quick and very long labors, simple straightforward deliveries and more complicated deliveries. I’ve supported women having completely natural births with little or no intervention and I’ve supported women having vacuum assisted deliveries, episiotomies and cesarean sections. The same theme keeps reappearing through birth after birth. Fetal positioning matters. When a baby is in a less than ideal position, labor might to be longer, more painful and more complicated. While there is no way to guarantee that you begin labor with your baby in a certain position there are things you can do to help your baby assume the best position possible and increase your chances or having a smooth, uncomplicated delivery.

Join the Great Lakes Doulas team for an introductory talk on this important topic. You’ll end our conversation with a basic understanding of fetal positioning and awesome resources to use throughout your pregnancy and birth. Are you curious about more birth topics? We’ll have an open question and answer time where you can ask us anything and everything bump, birth or baby related.
